Old temple with history

Nice place to worship the godness and its currently under some renovations to expend its vicinity. They actually charge a admin fee to visit.

This is an old and beautiful temple, located just next to the lake. While it is possible to visit the temple, we found it more impressive from afar.

This Old temple has peaceful environment, with less tourists. Avalokitesvara Hall and Vegetarian Restaurant is the highlight. Jiming temple and surroundings a good scenic place to visit during Nanjing visit.

I think this temple is not so famous and is not included on the normal route for tourist in Nanjing but is definitely worth visiting. On the top of the heel you have a great view of the city and the temple itself is perfectly preserved. There are also some other smaller temples on the bottom of the heel which... More

We visited on a very rainy day but it was easy to wander about with you umbrella up. At the entrance you are given incense and you climb up each section where you meet beautiful statues and buildings. There was a great atmosphere with singing and praying throughout. When you reach the top you can light your incense and add... More

Even though I had read about it I dismissed it as "just a city temple". it was close to where I was staying and a local told me about it, so I decided to have a look on my way to the lake. Only 10Yuen for the visit (including some incense to burn as offering), is well worth the stroll... More

China is one of the main consumers of elephant tusks. You can carve gorgeous, intricately detailed pieces that any art lover would absolutely love to display in their home were it not for the fact that it was violently stolen from its elephant owner. I feel this goes against everything a Buddhist Temple should stand for. So while I love... More

Good value for money, lovely scenery and nice atmosphere. I suggest getting to the top where there is a massive bowel for people who want to light an incense candle to make a wish.

+ Stone's throw away from the Nanjing Ancient Wall and Olympic Rings; also near to the Xuanwu Lake + Big and sprawling grounds (set aside 2-3 hours to explore to the heart's content) + Decent vegetarian restaurant with a good view of the Wall/ Olympic Rings/ Lake + Visit during Spring for the cherry blossom trees that line the streets...
