There is no entry fee for this lake area so you can freely stroll along the various pathways which lead around and between the islands in the lake. The views are very pleasant - the city skyline, the city wall, the lake itself and Nanjing railway station all can be seen. Boats are available to hire.

The lake is about 10km in circumference and in the middle are 5 interconnected islands. Each island had a slightly different feel to it and it's a great place to wander around for a few hours. You can even pay 5 yuan to feed some koi carp! There are plenty of places to get food and drink and there are... More

Overall a nice park to stroll around and enjoy a nice day. There are some activities such as a small amusement park for little kids, shops, food stands and cafés. There are also several boat rentals that you can get into a small electric boat and go around the lake.

Nice large lake park to walk and explore. Many locals are here socializing or doing their aerobic activities Very easy to get too if you take the Metro line 1 and the Xuanwumen stop.

Very nice lake located in the city center. Perfect for a walk around the old city wall on a sunny day. The only downside was that being Chinese new year it was really crowded

I've spent many, many hours at Xuanwu Lake in Nanjing. It's a great place to stroll around and relax with lots of nature all around. When you enter through the old Nanjing wall that surrounds much of the city, it's as if you can leave all the stress behind. The lake is clean and there is a lot of greenery... More

We visited the Xuanwu lake during the Spring Festival holidays in February. It was cold and windy and there was not much opportunity to escape the cold temperatures. If you go in the winter, bundle up to stay warm. There are a number of electric boats you can rent by the hour. My friend had his 5 year old son... More

Went with my girlfriend today and spent a few hours there. We took a little tour bus for ¥30 each and it lasted about 20-30min I think. They stopped twice for us to get out and the 2nd time was when the tour was over. We walked around the gardens and island all the way to where there was a... More

Huge place, might take half a day to complete, however, there is a tramp service at 30RMB per person that takes you around the place. Takes about half an hour in total. The guide will speak in Mandarin only. We decided to take it because, we did not want to walk. Unless you have a friends who can translate it... More

The old city wall goes around this park. You can walk on the top of the wall or along the lake. Both are enjoyable walks. There is a small entrance fee. If you are there for a while, paddle boats are available to rent. Because of the fee, it's more of a high end crowd there.
