I went to Nanjing right before The Lantern Festival. The area is decorated with Lanterns. It is nice to walk around during night and day time. There are tons of stores to eat and shopping for traditional Chinese items.

This is a beautiful area next to the Confucian temple. Other than the lovely temple itself, there's the gorgeous river (day or night), a lovely bridge and a nearby market. Totally worth a 1-2 hour stroll.

If you don't visit Fuzimiao and see it's iconic views of Qin Huai River and Chinese architecture, then you really haven't been to Nanjing: it would be like going to Shanghai and not visiting the Bund. Although the area is historical for it's links to Confucius, education and religion, it's also an extremely commercial tourist hub. Most of the souvenirs... More

This place is great. There are a ton of stores to go to and a bunch of places to eat. There are plenty of modern stores and plenty of stores that sell traditional Chinese items such as clothes, souvenirs etc. This place is very big and you can spend a lot of time here. You can take a boat tour... More

Family loyalty, tremendous importance of study and cultivation of knowledge, respect for elders, sincerity, diligence, kindness- all expoused by Confucius in 500 B.C. All still present in modern Chinese families. Beautiful temple buildings and 8 ton bell. Jade carvings showing key scenes of Confucius life. See it and know why a red carp is so significant in China. Lovely at... More

If you want to come shopping for gifts, souvenirs, etc., this is the place to come. Good restaurants. If you're looking for real historical value, you might be disappointed.

Very nicely preserved (reconstructed) the area where greatest royal examination was conducted. Worth the visit to this place if you ever heard Confucius, a great Chinese teacher/scholar/philosopher etc. not the main attraction though in Nanjing but worth the visit if you have couple of hours to spare. Nice street filled with majority food shops and souvenirs.

Awesome architecture and beautiful lights after sunset. But be aware that it will be very crowded after sunset and be aware of pick-pocketing!
