This place is attractive to me so that I visited twice in the last one year. Although the entrance is small I managed to bring my bicycle inside. No fee to be pain to enter this place execpt to say Good Morning Sir to the soldiers who guard it.
I cycled around for not more than 30 minutes because the area is small. I took a brake sitting in front of the miniature monument and in front of two statues Bung Karno and Bung Hatta, the proclamation heroes.
The area is clean and tidy, Some big trees make the area secluded. For some political organization, this park is important to induce moral dignity among its member.
Nowadays it is more difficult to enter the park because the road surrounding the park are heavy traffic from Jalan Proklamasi to Menteng and Jalan Diponegoro. So, I recommend you to visit the park on Saturday and Sunday.

I live nearby this monument and usually spend my morning jogging in this park. It has a jogging track and equipped by the small mosque (place of prayer). This monument opens from 05.00 AM - 09.00 PM.
It's like a small forest in the city where you can get the fresh air despite air pollution due to the traffic and vehicles.

A quiet place in the middle of the city. In this place previously situated a house where indonesia first president Mr. Soekarno and the vice president Mr. Mohammad Hatta proclaimed the independendence of Indonesia on August 17, 1945. The house was no more there and replaced by this moniment. It is important to see to remember the history of Indonesia independence event.

I'm kind disappointing when i visit this place. It's really just a monument in medium size not a giant one. Even though there are history about Indonesian proclamation in this place.

This was the place where Ir. Soekarno and M. Hatta announced that Indonesia was free from any colonialism and Indonesia is Independent from that moment. For anyone who like to visiting historical places, this is one of main or important historical places for Indonesia.

Yes this is a great monument, yes it have a great history, yes it looks good, but no, this is not a place for tourist. Located just next to Senen terminal, this is a very hostile place in Jakarta, there are a lot of robbery here, it's very hot at day, the road is plagued with a very bad traffic because of the train that passes so regularly.
That said, it you still want to go here, get here in the morning around 6 or 7 AM, take a picture then get our ASAP.

The monument, or rather monuments are located inside a park (Taman Proklamator) the monument is simply known as Tugu Proklamasi.
Registered as No. 59 of the Jakarta Metropolitan City Tourism Development Board, this historical monument commemorates the site were Soekarno-Hatta proclaimed Independence on behalf of the people of Indonesia and was said to be the place where Ir. Soekarno lived. Although the current address is Jalan Proklamasi 56, any Indonesian school child will remember it as Jalan Pegangsaan Timur 56 from the school books.
There are 3 main landmarks:
1. The Sokarno-Hatta Monument, inaugurated August 17, 1980
2. ‘Tugu Peringatan Satoe Tahoen Repoeblik Indonesia’ (1st year Commemoration of Indonesia’s Independence, built August 17, 1947, torn down August 15, 1960, rebuilt August 17, 1972.
3. ‘Tugu Petir’ (Lighting Monument), erected 1961
There is no trace of the house where Bung Karno lived. It was torn down in 1960 because of the ‘Rencana Pembangunan Semesta Berencana’ (Universal Master Plan for Development).
There is a big plaza in front of the monument. I would advise to bring an umbrella during rain or shine.
