This is a Buddhist temple built during the 9th century. It is located within the Prambanan Temple complex. Candi Lumbung means rice barn temple in Javanese. It bears similarities with Sewu Temple but is smaller in size. It is currently in the process of restoration. Worth a stop if visiting Prambanan.

It been 2 years, since I last visited this temple and I am glad to see that the progress is still going on and temple is slowly taking shape and hopefully it will look good when it's completed!

This site is located within the complex of Prambanan and known by the local as rice barn temple maybe due to its function as a place to collect the rice from nearby paddy field. Renovation is going on and not much thing to do here. Take some picture and move to Sewu temple.

The temple take many decade to restore I think not many original stone left and not easy to reconstruct as original temple due to still many stone spread out everywhere. The construction need 4D simulation to get original building and need... More

This temple is currently undergoing some major restoration work and so at present there isn't too much to see. A brief stop is all that's required as you walk from the Shiva temple up to the Sewu temple within the Prambanan complex. Access is included in your entrance ticket to the Prambanan complex.

Candi Lumbung is situated between the Prambanan Temple & Sewu Temple. I was impress to see the skillful workers working with the supervision on the archaeological department restoring parts of the temples; Hopefully one day we would get to see the glory of this temple!

I think the effort is great archaeological department. Reconstruct the building is ever lost or damaged. Where many parts are still unaccounted for, due to latent or looting in the past. This is one of the cultural wealth of our nation. This achievement, how our community can make a great building of the mound. Not just bricks piled, but many... More
