Description:

The Palawan Butterfly Ecological Garden and Tribal Village is a place that...

The Palawan Butterfly Ecological Garden and Tribal Village is a place that reflects the mesmerising beauty of a province that is known as the "Last Frontier of the Philippines". It showcases a sheer variety or tropical butterflies from the Southern region of the country. These free flying butterflies are surrounded with live exhibits of scorpions, green-crested lizards, phasmid and mantises which are considered their natural predators. It is a window to the natural ecology of these colourful insects. Another added attraction are the rescued endemic wildlife of Palawan. These animals are given the chance of a second life by being rescued from poachers and wouldn't have survived in the wild because of the probability of suffering the same fate all over again. Like the Palawan Peacock Peasant and the Palawan Bearcat, these animals are now ambassadors of their own species in the wild. By educating the public about these wild yet gentle creatures the facility promotes public awareness about how our actions as human beings can affect greatly everything in our environment.

Worth a visit!

Even if it's called Butterfly Center, you don't see any butterflies but you meet some tribals natives who dances and play for you.

When I first came here many years back, they only had butterflies in their garden. Since I love butterflies, I enjoyed spending time with all of these lovely creatures flying all around me. This visit, I was surprised that they now have tour guides and some other insects to see. I'm glad they didn't have any spiders, but they had... More

The family enjoyed the butterfly sanctuary and informative tour guide through the facility which also included scorpions, a bear cat and a few other things. We crossed to the tribal village where you found the natives that explained how they lived and coexisted with nature. It was nice to step back in time and learn about history of the tribe.

Very small preserve for butterfly habitat but very educational. The tour guide is very knowledgeable and quite funny. Good place for picture taking.

Quaint place. Diversed enough to keep both adults and children interested. It did not only focus on butterflies but also other insects and animals of interests. Our tour guide spoke precised English & kept our interests. This tour was divided into two section with the price of one entrance fee which came as a nice surprise. The second part, The... More
