I am notb an expert on coral reefs so I will leave it to others to judge whether fairly large numbers of tourists snorkelling have led to reefs off Boracay Island, Philippines adjacent to Crocodile Island.
However for P1800 my friend and me hired a 'banca' (boat capable of carrying six passengers) and motored around the tip of Boracay, past all the ferries shuttling back and forth to Caticlan, to the snorkelling site off Crocodile Island. For P1800, the hire period of the banca with its two crew members is four hours.
The sea was calm and snorkelling was easy.
I saw at least 10 species and had purchased two loaves of bread from a Main Road bakery for P40 each, which added greatly to the fun. One species in particular ate out of my hand, and others including clownfish waited half a metre or so away for me to throw morsels in.
It was a lovely experience with the presence of about 10 other boats not diminishing our enjoyment in any way.

To get there you can take a trike for 50 PHP but I recommend renting a catamaran off White Sands Beach for 500 PHP per hour which will take you around the south part of the island (aprox 40 minutes) and anchors right off Crocodile Island (named that cause it looks like a Crocodile from afar). I had an amazing experience with "Sea Rider" operated by a local named "Jay". Great rate, VERY friendly and great on the water! He gave us a rate of 400 PHP/hour the second day we went out.
You can rent snorkel and mask for 100 PHP, there is a 35 PHP fee per person fee to essentially protect the area from fishing.
While out, you can purchase Ice Cream and Coconuts from vendors paddling by.

My fiance and I are both big fans of snorkeling. We went around to about half a dozen spots in Boracay and Crocodile Island was by far the best. Hop out of the boat, look down, and you're absolutely surrounded by fish and healthy coral. There is a small (20 peso) fee for using the area, but WELL worth it when you consider that they're working hard to keep the area nice. If you're looking for a truly unforgettable snorkeling experience while in Boracay, get a boat to take you out to Crocodile Island.

We spent a day here hunting for crocodiles with our local guide - we were promised at least a sighting on at least one large salty - unfortunately all he could offers was handful of broken shells

Upon hiring a private paraw (we paid 1000 peso [~$30AUD] for 2 people for a 2 hour sail) they will stop here if you request snorkelling on your sail around the island. Both times we visited it was kind of rough so I ensure I had my lifejacket on because I was also warned the current can be strong from our skipper. You will see a variety of small fish including the most amazing bright blue fish (which I also believe I saw in Gili Trawangan, Indonesia), as well as coral and sea urchins. The water depth can vary from being able to stand on a "rock" (which I wouldn't advise) to what appeared to be 4-5 meteres.

We were brought here for snorkeling. I would have to say I would not come here for a snorkel. There are lots of tourist places in SE Asia with better snorkeling.

Best snorkeling Boracay has to offer. There are TONS of fish, they were literally running into us, and they arent scared of you, you can swim right amongst them. There are a variety or starfish, coral, and fish. Definitely hit this spot if youre island hopping!

Kayaked past this island & it is amazing how it actually resembles a crocodile. I actually thought there were crocodiles there hence the name, but no. Nice spot to snorkel too although I didn't because I was busy videoing & taking photos of my family who were.

The snorkelling here was amazing - the best I have ever seen outside of the Gillis, Indonesia. There is quite a current, but its worth it

Called Crocodile island because of the shape of the island .
What I want to say is not about the island. it is more about snorkeling near the island. If the weather is good, It looks like you can swim (if you are a good swimmer) or go to the snorkeling spot by pedalboard. it's very near from Tambisaan beach. There is a small fee of 20php for snorkeling.
When I was there , I don't have much time for exploring underwater as I was helping my wife for her very 1st time snorkeling , whilst she can't swim. I did have a bit of my own time of enjoyment.
We rent a small boat from the White beach with 2000php for 3hrs to visit the island that we want to go only. 500php / hr for additional time. 4 of us share the cost. The boat can fit easily 6pax or a bit more . This is the better alternative if you are traveling with friends as you don't need to follow the big group and wait for the thing that you don't do and go to the places that you are not interested .
If I go next time, I will spend more time here at this snorkeling. Snorkeling at crystal cove island is nothing compare to snorkeling near Crocodile island.

I wish to go to crocodile island and puka beach. Is it random?? Also i will stay at ALTA VISTA DE BORCAY . It is far fron central place . Is it also include pick up?
Written January 13, 2017
Hi! Going to Puka island is a norm. As for Crocodile island, I believed most people just took a boat tour to go around the island. Nevertheless you can check the info when you reach Boracay. Centralized location, usually people will take D'mall as the main location to navigate around. Me as a tourist, I did the same thing and for myself anything that is more than 10mins walk from D'mall, I will consider as far. The second reason why I said that it is far is because Boracay island is relatively small. Nevertheless you can commute from your hotel conveniently to the D'mall (where all happenings things took place) via a tuk-tuk (similar to Thailand) or tri-cycle bike at a very reasonable rate around 100-200 peso. Happy holiday!
