One of the best and unexpensive trek I've done so far...although it is still unforgiving in its steepness and it's seriously backbreaking trail but Mt. Lanaya divulge its beauty taught me patience and determination to never give up. The scenic view of this 700 meters above sea level mount'n leaves me speechless. Grabeeeh Breathtaking view. I thank God for his goodness. 🙌🏼
Mt. Lanaya is just one of the many tourist attractions in Alegria for the hardcore traveler. There are also hot springs, waterfalls, and dozens of beaches found around the municipality if you wish to spend more time there.
How to get there:
1) Cebu South Bus Terminal -> board for Bato, Samboan, or any bus going southwest
2) Alegria town proper -> get off at the bridge just south of the town proper
3) Register your climb with the Alegria tourism or just tell the habal2 driver that you're for Lumpan trail 25-30 mins then you'll be at the summit (day tour only)
Climb specs:
Location: Cebu (south)
Entry point: poblacion Alegria (highway)
Exit point: Brgy. Lumpan
LLA: 9°42'N, 123°21'E
Elevation: 700+/- meters above sea level (MASL)
Days required / Hours to summit: 2-3 hours competitive pace, 5-7 hours relaxed pace
Difficulty: 7/9
Trail class: 4
Major/Minor: Disputed

This is my nth time to climb this mountain in Alegria, Cebu. This time, we used the Legaspi Trail. The entrance fee is 50 pesos per head - to be paid to the Tourism Office, guide fee is 500 pesos for a group of 4 persons. You can go directly the the barangay hall of Barangay Legaspi to pay for the entrance fee and guide fee.
The Legaspi trail would take you 3 to 4 hours for fast climber and 5 to 6 hours for first times depending of the weather.
For our exit route, we used the Lumpan Trail which is just 30 minutes from the peak. From Barangay Lumpan, you need to ride in Habal-habal going down to the town proper. Usually, the transportation would cost you 25 to 30 pesos per head.

The last we climb Mt. Lanaya was during our National Mountain Clean-up Day in May 2014. My team were tasked to do the clean-up of Lanaya's peak.
For me, Mt. Lanaya is one of the best mountain to climb in Cebu. A bit difficult than any other mountains in Cebu island. It will take you 3-4 hours to reach the peak depending on the group speed.
From Cebu City, you take the bus from South Bus Terminal going to Alegria or Bato via Barili. You drop by the town tourism office or go directly to the barangay captain of Brgy. Legaspi of Alegria. The bus fare is around 100+. I forgot the exact fare. The barangay permit is I think 20 pesos. For the first timer, you need to hire a guide for only 500 pesos. Try to negotiate as much as possible.
Your entry point is Brgy Legaspi while your exit point is in Brgy. lumpan. Going to Brgy Lumpan takes you only 30 to 45 minutes from the peak. From the barangay Lumpan you need to hire a habal-habal to ferry you back to the town of Alegria going back to Cebu.
I recommend that you camp overnight at the peak to appreciate the sunset and the sunrise.
Happy mountaineering to all!
