Location Information The Commonwealth War Graves Commission's Kranji War Cemetery is 22 kilometres north of the city of Singapore, on the north side of Singapore Island overlooking the Straits of Johore. It is located just to the West of the Singapore-Johore road (Bukit Timah Expressway) on Woodlands Road, just to the south of the crossroads with Turf Club Avenue and Kranji Road. There is a short approach road from the main road. The Cemetery is known locally as Kranji Memorial and one must be sure of the address before boarding a taxi as most taxi drivers do not know the Cemetery. There are also bus stops on the main road facing the Cemetery. The Kranji MRT (train) terminal is a short distance from the Cemetery, approximately 10 to 15 minutes away by foot. A previous visitor has advised us that a small map of the route can be obtained from the MRT ticket office. Visiting Information Kranji War Cemetery is open every day 07:00-18:30. The cemetery is constructed on a hill with the means of access being via three flights of steps, rising over four metres from the road level, which makes wheelchair access to this site impossible.

We visit my husband's grandfather every time we visit Singapore. It is easy to get to. Just take the MRT to the Kranji station and either walk, taxi or bus it. It is about 600 metres down the road.

It is a lesser known and frequented place. A good place to step away from the city noises and just enjoy the quietness.

Singapore soldiers who died in WW II defending their country are buried here. The site is serene, somber and poignant. Once you walk to the top of the landscaped hill, past many graves, a beautiful view to the sea is on display. Recommended.

A long train ride to Kranji and then a fair walk in high humidity to the cemetery but I told myself that was nothing compared to what our soldiers had to endure. The war memorial is beautifully maintained. Lots of tasteful flowers and plants which...More

This memorial is in a beautiful setting which perhaps makes it all the more sobering. It is such a good reminder to current generations to be thankful for the freedom we have.

Our tour visted our War Dead from NZ, every NZ grave was visited, we remembered those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Our group of 37 NZ Veterans held a Service In the grounds, a very moving & spiritual experience.

A moving tirbute to those who have their lives, with those laid to rest not separated by rank, race or religion, rather all side by side. Beautiful floral arrangements well kept by the many gardeners I saw. It's also not very hard to run into...More

The war memorial remembers those who sacrificed, served and died in the war in Singapore. They are part of the country's history and are forever remembered and immortalised.

This is one of my go-to places when I need to reflect with some peace and quiet. The gardeners do an amazing job of keeping the grounds pristine looking at all times and giving the men and women who gave their lives to defend Singapore...More

Unfortunately we didn't see any florists near Kranji. The Singapore florists do some brilliant arrangements so we suggest ordering the flowers once you arrive in Singapore and take them with you to the memorial. There were... More
