We had a fabulous 45-minute guided tour which can be booked at the bóleteria, through this masterpiece of architectural and sound design. We can highly recommend the tour- the theatre is amazingly built, the design is gorgeous and what one learns about it during the tour is quite astounding.
We were very sad that there were no concerts during our stay. The foundation also has deep roots in the town and provides free courses for youth to learn to dance, teacher trainings and much more influence on a cultural level. We were quite impressed and hope they can carry on and extend tgeir programs and work. It must cost a lot to maintain.

It stands out from afar on the Frutillar waterfront, over Lake Llanquihue and with the Osorno Volcano in the background. It is the most important cultural center in South America. Its construction began in 1998 and it was only inaugurated in 2010. We were able to enter to see a free sample. Its construction is modern. It has a dock where there is a restaurant and from where you have incredible views.

This is a beacon of exceptional arts work and education! I took one of the daily mid-day tours of the theatre. It costs about $5 USD for students, a good price for a 60 minute tour. Loved seeing the resident artists and other performers rehearse. Topics covered: building architecture, history of the theatre, program/shows, and education. They have a fabulous school and youth education program. My only qualm was that I feel my questions were not received well. I asked about whether or not the school offered music/theatre writing workshops, and the guide got defensive stating that it's still a new program. After that I did not want to ask anything.
Besides that small misunderstanding, I loved touring the theatre. I fully support its programs. A must-see in the south of Chile!!

I remember two things about Teatro del Lago on the shores of Lake Llanquihue in Frutillar: the beautiful exterior woodwork and the fact that the doors were inexplicably locked, a surprise to our cruise ship shore excursion guide. Would have loved to have seen inside.

Magnificent! To watch a concert facing the lake, seeing the waves gently splash as a backdrop for the excellent music before you is a unique experience and I miss it already. If you won't have time to see performances at all the concert rooms and spaces, the guided tour is worth it. The main room is amazing, a true marvel of contemporary architecture and acoustics.

This performing arts center opened in 2010 and with its bands of different colored wood is a striking addition to the waterfront. We stopped into the cafe briefly, but unfortunately, have not been to any performances. Wonderful contemporary architecture!

We had a private tour because we were the only ones who came at noon that day. The tour guide have us a thorough tour, although it's only in Spanish. There is an English translation page if you request. We loved touring the different performance spaces and also loved seeing how the theater works with the community to educate the youth in music and dance. The theater, set on a lake with the volcanoes visible in the distance, is a unique and beautiful performance space with magnificent acoustics.

If they want to attract foreign tourists they will have to improve their attitude and accommodate people who do not speak Spanish well. An audio tape tour in English would be helpful or an interpreter. We ask the gentleman to slow down, but he continued at an incredible pace. It is a beautiful facility however.
