Great museum visit; definitely worth it. Explanations in English and Spanish; the English version, however, contains less information. Focus on Andean and Mesoamerican art. The collection is not as spectacular as what one can see, e.g., in Bogota or Ciudad de Mexico, but I found...More

This museum has some of the world's oldest mummies. It also had some amazing textiles. I thought the knotted rope 'data' was interesting. That was the first time I had seen those.

This museum is beautifully curated and really puts all the Indigenous peoples history and culture into context if you are going to be travelling widely in Chile which we did.

This museum is said to be the best in South America. I am pretty sure I have seen better in Peru. The museum really occupies a second floor with about 8 rooms and then has a below ground vault with the most precious of the...More

The biggest surprise was that the focus was not just on Chile but Mayan and Inca cultures in Central and South America. This was great for us to join the dots having visited museums and ruins in these places. The textiles are displayed in dim...More

Lovely, small museum well located in central Santiago. Houses a well curated collection of Precolombian artifacts, and newer parts/exhibits of the museum have excellent English translations of information (older sections are still in Chilean Spanish). The real highlight for me was the textile room/exhibit. It...More

I found the museum and it's exhibits to be very interesting. Items from Central America to the south of Chile. Signs in English to all the main exhibits also helps.

Not really. There is an elevator that will take you downstairs, but you must use the stair case to go upstairs. The upper level has a lot to see-far more than the main or lower levels. Sorry.
