Built in 1953 by the Catalan architect Rodriguez Arias, Pablo Neruda turned around the plan and acted as an architect himself (f.i. view to the mountains). Visit is of interest to understand everyday's live of Pablo Neruda, with his love Matilde Urrutia.

I have not read Neruda and am not a poetry fan but enjoyed this self-guided tour quite a bit. He and his many mistresses led colorful lives and he was enmeshed in Chile’s history. Worth the money and the time!

Santiago is at least 2 hours by car from Valpariso. It can be done if you are in a time crunch.. Ask your Santiago hotel if they can arrange a car for you.
