After 5 days in Santiago we had our last day spare. This is a brilliant way to spend time. We met Filipe at the central market and toured the local markets buying produce for our meal. The kitchen is located in a lovely house within a very nice area of the city. It has been beautifully converted with a superb... More

If there's one thing that will help you get to know a country, it's their cooking. This tour was incredibly fun and informative and exceeded every expectation for a cooking class! We started the day by meeting Felipe in the Mercado Central, where we got a tour and he picked up ingredients to cook with during the class. What they... More

Felipe is a wonderful chef and teacher. He took us through the fish, flower, and produce market. He bought most of the ingredients for our meal as we watched. We took a short taxi ride to the kitchen. There were eight of us in the class. We all got a chance to chop, stir or mix. We made mango pisco... More

From the moment the Felipe met us at the Mercado, the energy and good humor of him and our group made it clear we were going to have a great day---and we did. Our chef showed and told us much about Chilean culture and food while we were shopping at the markets and then we took a cab to the... More

I echo all of the very high ratings for the workshop and especially for Felipe, who makes this the best cooking workshop I have experienced. While buying the ingredients in the markets, one is a traveler, not a tourist. Meal prep is wholly hands on and a marvelous sample of Chilean food and drink.

I knew I would enjoy the cooking per se, but I didn't anticipate that the first couple hours would be spent walking from market to market buying ingredients and soaking up the local sights, sounds, and smells in a much less traditionally tourist fashion. A definite plus! Our chef-cook was excellent, mixing local culture with general cooking tips along with... More

Met Felipe at the Mercado. Shopped for some ingredients. Took a taxi back to his kitchen and got to work with 3 other couples. He was engaging and fun. As the class went on, it became apparent that he is an excellent chef, but not intimidating. Encouraged participation, without being pushy. No formal technique required - just a willing spirit... Made reservations with friends for this cooking class while in the airport on our way to Santiago. What a great idea it turned out to be! We met Felipe, our guide (CHEF) at the Central Market and also the two other couples who were part of our group. We walked the market looking for seafood to cook. No Razor Clams... More

We had a great day with our chef Felipe. Visited three markets in the heart of the city. What an experience. Not certain we would do it without a guide, especially right before Christmas. Lots and lots of shoppers. Then to the cooking school located in a restored house with a modern kitchen, some thing you would see on a... More
