If you're in Santiago with small kids cooped up in an apartment or hotel, this is a great, low cost way to let them burn off some energy. It ain't the Royal Botanic Gardens; there are no stunning fountains or delicate hedges - but it's full of lush grass and grassy hills that kids can roll down. There's lots of play equipment for kids as well as adults.

Los Reyes commemorates the kings of Spain. Which is great; they need more acknowledgement.

The park has no barbecues, but Saturday and Sunday there are street food vendors and that's a great time to go. Usually there is entertainment on the weekends; movies on a big screen or live music. Also, you can hire those transparent plastic balls that kids climb inside and roll down hill. In summer, go around 6 o'clock when it starts to cool down. There are big crowds but the park is so large there is space to spread out on the grass and lots of shade.

Takes about 5 minutes to walk to the park from the EstaciĆ³n Mapocho Cultural Central (the former central railway station) in the middle of Santiago. You can then walk on the path that overlooks the Mapucho River (nice views of the mountains) or along the grass close to Avenida Balmaceda. There are bike paths; it's a gentle ride and on the river side you can continue further west than the park.

You'll see lots of couples canoodling, kids kicking soccer balls with their dads, mums and grandparents and volleyball - numerous nets are set up throughout. I believe there are free aerobics classes on a Saturday morning.

If you walk for about a kilometre you'll get the central sporting area; half-sized soccer fields where social teams compete, and a brilliant skateboard facility. About 100metres west is a BRILLIANT set of monkey bars (okay, a fitness station). At dusk a bunch of the fittest looking guys you'll ever see work out and on a good day you'll see some great gymnastic performances.

Cross over General Bulnes to get to the next section of the park. It's wider than the first part and right up the end is a serious climbing facility; a converted grain silo called Parque de Escalada Los Silos. There's a Facebook page in Spanish which promotes the competitions held there.

Note to runners: It's about 4.5 kilometers up and back - if you take the footbridge at General Bulnes it's a completely uninterrupted run, almost all on grass. Stop at the monkey bars and do some chin-ups!

It is an open park with many sculptures of different types and styles, you walk it and go finding many of them, take pictures, carry a book to read something there and get energy to continue visiting Santiago, it is close to many good places in Santiago, at walking distance you get good restaurants and museums to visit

Parque de Los Reyes, built in 1991 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Discovery of America, is one of the biggest parks within Santiago.

get here is very easy, you can walk straight ahead through the Ricardo Cumming avenue (north side) and you'll arrive it.
Also, it is between Parque Fluvial Renato Poblete and Parque Forestal, allowing you to made a great and interesting green circuit.

At this park, you can do many activities such us have a good time with your family in the picnic area or the children's games, chilling with your friends in front of the artificial lagoon or doing sports in its grass courts and the skate park. Just be aware of not to go too late 'cause could be dangerous, but only as anywhere at night.

Average park located near Barrio Yungay. There is a skatepark and multiple soccer fields. Nothing special here, just a place to sit down and take a break. Subway: Cumming (line 5), walk north on Ricardo Cumming for about 20min until Presidente Balmaceda.
