Visited this neighbourhood as part of the city tour. Lovely area with lots of restaurants and shops. There is also a street market where you can buy Arts, crafts, handmade stuff, souvenirs etc and also paintings being sold by local artists at very reasonable prices! There are also shops in the area as well and some local galleries. The Museum of Visual Arts is also within the area. Recommended if you are in the area!

Okay maybe I'm missing something...the area is very small, just a few streets, with nothing but tourists stalls to recommend it and all of those are set up in one small area. There does not seem anything in particular to do or see. Don't think you learn or experience about Santiago by coming here. Just a walk through suffices.

One of the vendor there, a woman who sells fabric stamps or stickers was very upset because we didn't buy all her stickers and according to her we left a messy stand. Of course she was upset and complained about the no purchase to everyone. We did not buy a thing because went out of proportion. Upsetting experience with this woman who stays across a museum and coffee venues
Her lost was someone else's gain.

A beautiful street full of cozy cafés, restaurants and stores. A place full of lovely art (as well as the artists) and gorgeous sights, would recomend 10/10.

This was my favorite neighborhood for restaurants and street life. We visited on a Friday night and the streets were filled with people. Lots of street performers which combined with the crowds made it the most enjoyable night in Santiago,

Located just on the other side of, Santa Lucia hill, is a lovely Bohemian neighbourhood of Lastarria, we purposely visited on Sunday to experience the local, crafty market, definitely worth a visit, as well as having a stroll around the leafy streets, admiring the street art, and seeing some quirky buildings, its a little different, the rest of the city.

Barrio Lastarria neighbourshood is considered to be safe; however, we learned about reported robbery attempts at intersection of José Victorino Lastarria & Av. Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins. Please be aware, don't wear jewelry, don't have anything in your hands (phone, purse, backpack, camera, etc.) that can be violently snatched.

We have stayed here for 3 nights. Horrible grafiti ALL OVER. Violent themes. Five different locals have warned us about crime. Apparently there are protests many Friday evenings. In two days we were approached by 7 people asking for money. One was somewhat belligerent. Santiago seems to have gone to hell. Hundreds of homeless encampments with trash and filth all over a large area. So regret having come here at a huge expense from my homeland. So sorry for the residents. I fear this situation will open up Santiago for right wing takeover given that many blame immigrants for current disaster. Will never be back!

This is a great area to wander around and enjoy an eclectic mix from the street vendors and it a raft of excellent restaurants. Unfortunately, the area is smothered in graffiti, most of which is not tasteful and adds a seedy feeling to the area. It would be so much more if the municipality exerted some civic pride and cleaned it up a bit.
