The museum is located above a mirador offering good views of the working harbor and the city. The exhibits are well presented, many offering English explanation, and provide a good sense of the importance of the sea to Chile. Additional exhibits are being added as part of renovation of the building. If walking to the Artilleria ascensor from Plaza Sotomayor,... More

This is a reasonable museum but, unless you are into maritime history (or the British role in creating the Chilean Navy), it's probably not worth going out of your way

Visited today and found it quite interesting. Some, but not all, of the info is in English. Much of the museum was closed off for renovations or something. Nice views from the area round the museum. Of more concern we walked here and had a bag stolen off us in the street on our way back - not far from... More

If you're at all interested in Chilean naval history, this place is amazing. Even if you're not it's worth visiting. UK visitors will love it too for the very strong Royal Navy connections.

It's a long climb to this museum but the views are wonderful when you get there. The museum is very interesting, especially for British people, as one of the earliest leaders of the Chilean navy was a British man. There are many of his letters and reports available to read, as well as information about important naval battles. If you... More

It was super cheap to enter, 1000 CLP maybe $1.50 US. Well worth the money. Neat old building, well maintained as were the grounds. The displays were nice and there was maybe 40% translated to English so you could get a sense of what what's happening. Give. English was not many places, this made it nice for passing the time... I loved the museum and found it incredibly interesting. Wonderfully well presented exhibits and great staff. As an English traveller new to the country I struggled with the Spanish language only exhibits. But the Google translate app on my phone was useful in overcoming this.

OK, the Armada de Chile has a rather creepy history, which unsurprisingly is not covered, but this is a very cool museum nonetheless. Nice display of Cochrane's attack on Valdivia. There's not much in the way of non-Spanish support material. There's even a strange pirate room for the kids.

So this is pretty cheap- if you are up in Paseo 21 de Mayo, you can visit this museum. It's pleasant to walk through-- except for the hall dedicated to a fascist admiral [that should be removed]. The cafe in the courtyard is so cheap and such a cute place to hang.
