Go up as many as you can and then enjoy the walk down. They are only 100 or 300 pesos each way. And boy, they are steep, no wonder they built them when there were no houses along the shore. This one is the oldest. Inaugurated on December 1, 1883. The funicular was declared a Historic Monument on September 1, 1998

Lovely view of the city of Valparaiso from the top. Another a covenant way to get to the bottom in downtown Valparaiso. Lastly, could go up this cable car again.

A perfect way to get up the hill. A very smooth ride and the view at the top of Cerro Concepcion is spectacular.

For some reason they were running without any charge during our visit. Short ride up or down the hill - beats walking! Not sure what the normal charge would be.

Wonderful way to get to the top of Cerro Concepción with its beautiful views. Don't worry if there's a line, it goes fast.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn it was free! The long line moved very quickly. Only eight people rode at a time but the distance it travels is quite short. No big thrills but it saved us a lot of time.

Not working along with many other lifts here. You have to walk up the nearby steps which stink of urine

Like nearly all the ascensores, it is a little railway car that goes up en down, a bit shakily. This one is convenient for tourists, as it is quite centrally located, in contrast to Polanco or Artelleria. It furthermore takes one to some of the nicer streets in Valparaiso. Quite worth the experience.

Ascensor Concepcion is mode of transportation for a nominal price. It is a lift connecting downtown Valparaíso with Paseo Gervasoni, a popular promenade with city & port views. Certainly worth considering especially when going uphill.

Any of the ascensors around town will be worth a cheap ride, just pick one and enjoy the view and the old fashioned transport!
