We visited the City Museum on the recommendation of our hotel. The entrance fees are very reasonable and, without even enquiring about guides, we were offered an English speaking guide at no cost. The guide was excellent, very informative and guided us through the museum...More

The museum was decent if not overwhelming, some of the exhibits were a bit cheesy and others were common knowledge. But some were excellent and the building is beautiful. It's a shame the exhibit on the old hospital was so small and poorly done.

Using the building which long ago housed a hospital, the museum takes you through the history of Quito. Quite stirring is the diorama of a church showing how people were seated by rank (and money). Slaves, of course, were relegated to standing in the back....More
