Grab your cheesy magnets, alpaca blankets and hats in this giant market on your way out of Ecuador. There are tons of vendors, many selling similar goods, so it's not too challenging to bargain for a better price than you're originally quoted.

Near El Ejido Park, this was a nice mercado for souveniers. We bought some Ecuadorian chocolate (2/$5) and some scarves (3/$5). At the tail end of our trip we visited Otavalo on an off-market day. Otavalo had much more to offer than just souvenirs from...More

The market has lots of vendors. Space is very tight. You can find many choices of all kinds of goods. Vendors are more than willing to sell.

It is worth a visit, there is plenty of things. Nice visit, well organized. We went on a Sunday and it was not too crowded. Conveniently located. We then walked to Plaza Foch for lunch. Nice experience overall.

This was within walking distance of our hotel. Our group never went to Otovalo, but this open aire shopping experience had a lot of built-in redundancy. As my husband stated, "After a couple of rows, it all looks alike." Be prepared to bargain if you...More

We went to both the market in Otavalo and this one. Same beautiful blankets, chocolates, hats. This market the vendors are a bit more aggressive. Stick to the price that you plan to pay. We bought scarfs for $5.00 in Otavalo and they tried to...More

The market is alright, you can find lots of stuff but not much of unique items which you have a much better chance to find in Otovalo, especially on Saturday.
