Spectacular church, gold and art, maybe this is the oldest church in Ecuador. I think is one of themost important place to visit in Quito

This Church is astounding. The Baroque interior is breathtaking, with gold fretwork, paintings and sculpture. Don't forget to look in the magnifying mirror just in front of the altar to inspect the magnificent detail on the ceiling. Printed information available in English. A must see.

The outside of this church is gorgeous but not half as gorgeous as the glistening golds that shimmer away on the interior. I find the Basilica a lot more impressive, but this church and very opulent and might be the second most important one to visit in Quito.

In the centre of town this church has beautiful ornate carvings and looks beautiful from the outside. Inside you can see where all the gold has ended up! I believe there is a charge to enter so just glanced inside.

You will be stunned by the amount of gold in this church. Not only is the central altar painted with gold leaf but so are the chapels on both sides of the church. Every altar is beautiful, has intensely intricate carvings and is worthy of contemplation. You will enjoy your time there.

Amazing church, baroque syle. Crafted in wood covered with gold. Take the guided tour. It's a shame you can not take pictures, even without flash.

Near the Independence Plaza, this building's architecture will leave you speechless.. Amazing carvings, great preservation work and worth visiting if you have the chance.
