Resembling a type of small bread (panecillo), this hill makes an excellent observation point over Quito and features La Virgen del Panecillo, a majestic sculpture that can be seen from any location in the city.

The monument offers a great panoramic view over the city of Quito. Inside the monument there are pictures of the construction of the monument and small scale models of each part used during the construction. Although it’s not a very high climb, if you’ve just...More

Such big statue, all around view, little souvenir shops and snack stands. Weather was so clear and you can also take a nice stroll on ramp.

We really enjoyed the views on our way up. Unfortunately as we came to the last part we got pretty sketched out as the path went through quite a slummy area. We grabbed a passing bus for $.50 (two people). The view from the top...More

When thy sky is clear you could see Cotopaxi and Cayambe. In the past the route for pedestrians was very dangerous due to robberies, nowadays you can meet many policemen on every corner.

Great views over the city but 30 mins is sufficient. Lots of craft sellers but no pressure to buy. Sometimes view is hazy. Journey up yo on cobbled streets is quite interesting.

A really nice view of quito but follow the recommendations and don't walk up there, take a taxi - for safety reasons!

I took the 1/2 day Quito City Tour by Greyline and was really pleased with all of the sites we visited. The El Panecillo was the last stop and the view is amazing, even on a hazy day such as the one I had. There...More

Beautiful overlooking the city. I recommend visiting it twice once during the day and again at night. You can also pay a small fee and go inside for beautiful views of the city. There are beautiful stained glass windows to see also.

Definitely not 24 hrs. To be honest the view from the base of the statue is worthwhile.
