If you have time (meaning you already visited musts) go for it. f not it is OK to skip it. Takes some time, and you can also have good views of the monument from other places downtown.

It seems like almost every Latin American country has something like this in their capital. This is Quito's version. It's on the top of a tall hill and isn't an easy walk. However, it is one of the Hop on Hop Off stops as well...More

We took Uber from city center up to Panecillo, only cost $4.30. The status is beautiful day and night. I love the panoramic city view the best. It is the best place for pictures.

Can be seen from old Quito up on El Panecillo hill, but do take a taxi up to the monumnet itself and look back on the city. The monument is a sight to behold when you're right there, beneath it. It is definitely more beautiful...More

There's quite a few steps to climb to get to the viewing platform which had me a little breathless as I wasn't quite acclimatised to the high altitude, but the view from there was amazing. You can walk all the way around and see the...More

The structure itself is so interesting and the view from the area showed really demonstrated both the size of the city and the declination between the middle class and lower class areas.
