There are beautiful museums, and nice walks, but it seems the info structure still needs some time to modernize. This city still has a conflict between old and New with a graffiti problem. Glad I visited, but I found Quito not as inspiring as other cities in the region such as Cuzco.

Had a tour of the old town. A lot of interesting things to see people seemed friendly enough. We were cautioned by the police to hide our cameras so they would not be stolen. Although we felt safe it was good advice. Don't think I'd want to walk around late at night though.

The historical district was one of our favourite locations in our trip to Ecuador. So much history and absolutely stunning architecture! It was not difficult at all to get around this part of the city by walking (though be prepared for the hills and higher altitude!), and not difficult at all to find good places to eat and other amenities... If you have time , get a guide to take you thru Old Town,Unesco site with many old churches & buildings. Went to the Presidents Palace, the main square. The architecture is incredible at all the churches. It is a must see

Love old town Quito. Definitely worth spending a half day tour as you get all the history. The gold church, main plaza etc. Visit the statue of the Virgin Mary & the basilica as well when finding a tour. Well worth your time

I was not expecting to be impressed because it is so overwhelmed with modern life. But the fact is the old architecture and way of life does still stand out. So, I really enjoyed our walk around bustling Quito old town. Thank goodness they have restrictions on building modifications there, even if it doesn't prevent everything being overgrown with modern... More

Definitely a must see with wonderful architecture. Wonderful paintings in churches. Also, see the Virgin de Quito for a city view at the top.

Easily walkable town. Churches looked beautiful - too bad almost all of them charged to get in and most did not allow any photography (even without flash).

I absolutely love cities so no surprise I enjoyed this part of Ecuador as much as I thought I would. The hotels and tourist attractions have free walking maps of the area that are terrific. Put on some good shoes and hit the streets. I was there with my 11 year old daughter and we felt safe, day and into... More

No wonder it's a unesco world heritage site and most of the buildings are very well preserved! One of my favourite old town in this part of the world!
