Very peaceful and quaint, it's lovely walking around the quarter, lots of little shops and cafés to enjoy. Didn't feel too touristy which is nice!

We loved our stay in Arequipa and what kept us there for 3 days was its charming historical center! Built in white volcanic rock, from colonial style to Baroque the edifices are a great environment to relax and explore!

My husband and I really enjoyed our (short) time in Arequipa. What a charming little town of stone buildings...reminiscent of southern Italy (Puglia and a bit of Palermo). And the streets are very clean compared to the other places we visited. Would highly recommend it. Also worth a visit - Monesterio de Santa Catalina (wow!!!) and the Cathedral (Basilica) is... More

So much to see and do inside and outside of this lovely place. There are tourist police and regular police all around and walking streets, open squares, shops, markets and restaurants, both local and foreign. It seems whatever your budget, you can be accommodated. Yet, the architecture drives the awe. The intricate ironwork seen on almost every building and the... More

This area is busy with both locals and tourists, it's noisy, the streets can get narrow and there are a lot of vehicles but there are pedestrianised sections. It's definitely bustling and if you want a quiet, relaxing time you won't find it here. But the streets are great to wander around. It's clean and well-maintained. We stayed further out... More

Having traveled over Peru for the last couple months, I have seen most of the major cities and their associated historical areas. Arequipa is a great city to walk around in, the architecture is beautiful and the Plaza de Armas is as nice as any I have seen. The Plaza is heavily treed, with a beautiful fountain. The church on...
