Dreadful communication: sent them a whatsapp on the morning of my visit (to the number on their website) to check it would be open to the public and they said it was open. Later, upon arriving at the gates, I was told by the security guy it was closed due to a wedding. I called the WhatsApp number back and she said “really sorry, it was me who answered your message, but I hadn’t checked the schedule properly”. I had to pay the taxi there and back for nothing. This was my second try visiting this place, since during the double decker, it was also closed and nobody told us anything beforehand. I really would not recommend this place.

Like La Molina de Sabandia, this place is no longer in the countryside. It is close to some of the most hideous housing I saw in Peru, likely thrown up illegally on steep barren hillsides. All our taxi rides in Arequipa took longer than expected and involved twisting and turning through ratruns, so there must be numerous routes to the place, but none of them will deliver you to open country. It just isn’t worth contributing to the city’s traffic congestion and air pollution to go there. And unless you actually enjoy sitting in a car for over an hour, it’s not a good ratio of pain for one hour of pleasure in a garden and old house

The house was interesting, well furnished and lovely garden. Was interesting to see things from that time and to understand that he built the house so far away from the city as he had a special needs child.

If you have the time, it’s interesting , not sure I’d call it a must see unless you are a history museum buff.

We take students here on an annual basis for about one hour. The mansion dates back to the 17th c. and was owned by the Hispanic founder of Arequipa. The grounds are lovely and with the chapel, this makes these grounds an excellent place for a wedding, a reception, or another fanciful gathering. Take your cameras. Several of our students again made selfies with the lovely backdrop.

Worth a visit in Arequipa. It's a lovely manse with some gorgeous gardens. We learned that this property has passed through many families and owners and remains very well preserved.

It was our first afternoon in Arequipa and we decided to take a tour of the city. We didn't realise how long it would be and that it included a stop for lunch was good. This was near the end of the day and it was delightful. Yes you have to pay extra for the entrance but the day was late and we appreciated the house, the flowers and garden. Lovely photo opportunity and he fields around were actually GREEN.

It’s fine nothing espectacular even the tour guide is telling you is a bathroom stop so you can pay 5 soles or 12 soles if you want to be around that Mansion... pretty but if you want to be a royal then stay in Hotel Casa Arequipa... love that hotel 😉

This is a beautiful spot to spend a morning escaping the hustle of the city. The rooms are nicely restored and the grounds are immaculate. Spanish explanations are posted in the rooms. A short taxi ride to the 'country'. Really worth the trip.

The home of the Arequipa city founder is really worth to visit. Built in Spanish colonial style with a lot of furnishings of the old times and portrait paintings and beautiful gardens

You have to take a cab or have your own car or join a tour to go out here. It's a bit out of the way but well worth a visit. Beautiful grounds and lots of local history explained in the mansion which has signs in English and Spanish in most places. If you like museums and you like to take a beautiful walk and take gorgeous pictures be sure to come here.
