Unintentional visit/guided tour as our Tour Leader took us here.
Very large pipe organ.
Big bells close up!!!!!!
Excellent view from roof, one way volcano, t'other the square.
10 sol entrance (+ compulsory tip for guide)
Some old fancy robes and (as per usual in religious premises of ancient type)gold/silver and gems.

It says it opens from 10, we arrived at 7.30, people came in, we went too, no one took money at that hour, apparently everyone comes to pray at that time. We sat and listened to the audio guide. We weren’t particularly impressed, it looks better from the outside, especially in the evening with backlighting

I definitely recommend visiting the church on your visit here. It takes a about an hour and requires a tour guide, but mine was very good. You also get to visit the bell tower which provides a nice view of the plaza.

Guided tour in French possible. Note that several places are prohibited for photography. Pieces of inestimable value according to our guide. Gold, diamonds, other precious stones... truly amazing. The highlight of the visit is the trip to the roof of the cathedral. One of the bell towers was rebuilt identically after an earthquake. Exciting visit not to be missed.

Fabulous cathedral in beautiful small cute square. Stunningly beautiful and we were lucky enough to be in hotel with arched terrace across the road. We had a terrace that looked over to the basilica from our bedroom. The wooden sculpture of the Winged Devil I found really interesting.

This cathedral is very pretty and the tour was very informative. I’m glad we decided to visit. The guide was required, but we found she did a great job. We would have missed so much interesting history and information without her.

Located in the heart of the Old Town in Arequipa. A beautiful historical architecture in Plaza de Armas. A must see when in Arequipa.

Great photos and photo opportunities.

Highly Recommended!

The cathedral is stunning. It sits right in the Plaza de Armas and is massive. Its impossible to miss. Take pictures of the outside with Misti in the distance. Worth going inside to explore as well.

after a recent earthquake, this huge cathedral has been renewed and , in my opinion, has lost its old and colonial charme. a bit disappointed

You can visit at any time during the day but between 7-10am the cathedral is open to all visitors free of charge.

Any time outside of this costs 10soles, however... you cannot enter without a guide which they say costs 5soles per person even though there are no official signs stating this.

Luckily it’s very cheap but it would be nice to visit without being hauled around and paying for a service you don’t want.
