We spent a couple of hours here on our Colca Canyon trip. There are a number of baths, each at a different temperature. The outside baths were best for us. Be prepared to be stared at if you are European and female.

If you're having an overnight stay in Chivay or any of the surrounding towns in Colcha Valley, make sure you get to these baths. They're sourced from natural hot water from the nearby volcanic mountains, and are a wonderful place to relax for a couple of hours. The location is a bit outside Chivay - not withing walking distance, so... More

Sadly the outside pool didn't have water in it! However, the covered pool did! There are changing rooms along the edge, and you can just stick your bag on a bench and watch over it whilst you are in the hot spring water. After a while of hiking or travelling, this is a really invigorating experience for half an hour... More

We arrived at our lodge in Chivay, which is at a high elevation...very cold! Our tour guide took us a 10-minute drive away to this wonderful mineral bath. The staff at the lodge allowed us to take a towel, but they have them for rent at La Calera. A small entry fee gives you access to a locker, shower and... More

I enjoyed the thermal bath! 15 soles for entrance including locker. Yes indeed it is somewhat crowded.

OK. Yes it felt good but so does a hot shower. This is basically a hot pool (it is a pool) to soak in. Nothing miraculous about it. Also nothing natural. If you've seen natural hot springs, this is not it. But if you like hot tubs after a long day, sure, why not!
