Great views, a workout due to altitude; Be Prepared.
After hiking the Inca Trail, went on tour while staying in Cusco in 2019; can't remember the company. Picked up early am. Once parked we were given that short speech of what to expect. Hiking in altitude always an adventure, but after the Inca Trail this was second nature. Great views. Main plateau is 16,500 feet according to our guide company. The top of the "general public" crest 17,0010. And yes, the colors are there; though some pics you see on ads have been touched up.

Stunning view, worth the short (but strenuous) hike
This is a relatively newly discovered site, which was hidden under the perma-ice until quite recently. As far as I've gathered, there is no way to visit independently, without a guide. The drive is a bit exhausting, about 3-4 hours from Cusco centre, so the tours would pick you up very early and return you late in the afternoon. Luckily, most tours include both breakfast (which is very early) and lunch (which is late, so consider bringing a snack if you think you'll need it). The bus will get you fairly close to the site itself, leaving only a short trail and then the way up to the top of the mountain with its stunning 360° view. However, despite the short path, the height makes it a rather strenuous walk. My advice is to leave yourself some time in Cusco to adjust to the altitude before you go on this hike, and perhaps do some easier trekks first. If you're not in the best shape but still wants to enjoy the view at the top, there is the option to be led up on a horse back, or rent a dirt bike or an ATV. Due to the height, you will face both the scorching sun and cold winds, so bring comfortable trekking shoes, a hat, enough water, sunscreen and a warm layer. The guides also recommend a rain jacket, as the weather can be unpredictable and turn in a short span. Note that some tours offer the possibility to continue the treck to the Red Valley. This is at least another 30 min, but seems doable with some time strain. A word of caution: This might well be the most popular site for instagramers, perhaps even more so than Machu Picchu, so be prepared to stand in line in front of the best photographic spots for the opportunity to snap some photos.

Each step to the summit was an enriching experience.
The Terra Quechua Peru team not only took us to the Montaña de Colores, but immersed us in a profound cultural experience. Every step to the top was full of discoveries, from the unique flora and fauna to the changes in the landscape that reveal centuries of geological history. I highly recommend this agency not only for their professionalism and knowledge, but for their commitment to sustainable tourism that respects and protects this incredible natural environment.

The only real issue would be altitude sickness, but once at the summit - involving a 4 km walk uphill - the sight is breathtaking. If altitude sickness becomes a problem, there are horses to rent for $20.00 US one way for the majority of the 4 km. ytrek.

Amazing views super cool hike and totally worth it, however it is super crowded and can be somewhat overwhelming. People are puking left and right being carried up and down... this is super high altitude people, make sure you have had multiple days to acclimate in cusco. Take it slow and if the weather is good you will be left with some amazing views while being surrounded by 200+ people all clamoring for a great instagram photo. Super crazy but beautiful. I got the trip for free through a job otherwise i dont know if I would suggest it. There are so many other amazing treks around the area.

We went with Flashpacker connect - one of the only companies that gets you there early, and when we arriveed at the top there were only about 8 tourists around. By the time we came down there were hordes of people jostling for position. Bexare of the difficulty and don't hesitate to ask your guide for oxygen if you need it.

We did the rainbow mountain, with terra quechua peru, and we want to thank and recommend them for their excellent service, seriousness, punctuality, quality of service, excellent guide, the breakfast and lunch were very good and the driver and punctuality were good.
This hike is a bit more challenging than most others in the region due to the altitude. Don't underestimate it and be sure to acclimatize before you start. We really enjoyed having a very professional guide, who showed us some places that were not on the official trail. The scenery is really beautiful and it is an experience I will never forget.!

A place that tests people with low fitness, but that is totally worth it, for those who are not very athletic you can rent horse, motorcycle or quadricycle to get very close to the summit.
It is a place with many visitors so you must be patient, achieving photos without unknown people around is quite complex, the view from the top is wonderful, you have the visual not only of the mountain of colors but also of a nearby glacier.
It's wonderful.

traveled there with a guide named Coca. The company name is Coca Tours. A small, intimate group and recreation in the mountain while climbing and learning about the community's lifestyle and the significance of living at an altitude of over 5,000 meters.
It is strongly recommended but be very attentive to the body, make proper preparation and take a professional guide who also channel a medical response.
For those in a bad situation horses can be taken almost to the edge. From there you can see the mountain of colors, but not in the

For people who like to walk and discover new places, I highly recommend it. It is a tour that will take you all day, you will be picked up around 6am from the hotel and you arrive around 9am, from this starting point until you reach the mountain, it is like 2 hours walking, 2 hours that become a little heavy Due to the height (you are at about 5000 meters above sea level) but at a decent pace you can do it.

The last 10-15 minutes are steeper and when you reach the top, you will see the mountain of seven colors and many people, you basically queue to take a photo but in my opinion the adventure is WORTH IT.

If you get tired on the route, there are horses that you can rent to carry you up, although they are a bit painful, we did the entire route walking.

The most recommended way to visit is with a Tour, since the path to the starting point is not easily accessible and is not signposted.

Impressive and high natural wonder whose beauty goes beyond what the photographs show. It is worth the effort to reach the two viewpoints, the highest is the best. Patience and a slow pace due to the height is recommended, without stopping to reach the objective.

We took this tour with a local travel agency. The entire tour lasts around 12 hours, leaving the hotel early in the morning and returning in the late afternoon, with a round trip in a van, with breakfast and lunch included, passing through winding roads until reaching the point where the walk begins. climb. The mountain reaches almost 5100 meters in altitude, which is a lot for most people. Despite this, the walk up is a breeze, for those who have already taken the trip to Laguna Humantay, which is much steeper and on rocky terrain, which makes it much more difficult. There is a queue up there to take photos in the best locations. One thing that no one says and that we learned later, from another Peruvian guide, is that this mountain has a high incidence of lightning, not only because of the high height, but because of its mineral composition and the tourists' excess of cell phones and metal trinkets, that attract rays. I recommend taking this into consideration first.

Everything depends on weather. The mountain is high more than 5k, it climbed up 2 hours, but didn't see almost anything, because the mountain was foggy. In addition, The atmosphere is also ruined by those lazy fat "boars" carried by poor horses up the mountain.
