Enjoy the beautiful Andean landscape of Peru on board of a luxury and magical way to travel between Cusco and the Lake Titicaca. Travelling in the Andean Explorer is a unique experience, a route between mountains, clouds, snow-capped mountains and puna finishing in the majestic Lake Titicaca. Its coaches involve you in an environment extremely decorated with the elegant style of Pullman trains of the decade of 1920. Its tourist shows, the 5-fork lunch, dining cars, observatory-bar car outdoors, among other attractions.

We had seen this listed as one of the grear train rides of the world and it did not fail to deliver. We were greeted warmly in Puno where our bags were checked and they moved us to be able to sit facing forward together. You need in nice and comfortable cushioned arm chairs. There are less than 50 passengers... More

Having taken a return trip on Vistadome the weekend prior, we really felt we were in for a treat with Andean Explorer. We were sadly wrong! (Vistadome was excellent!) The "scenery" was just mile upon mile of flat scrubland, crumbling buildings and graffiti. We had high hopes for the included meal and certainly the smoked trout appetiser was lovely. However,... An extraordinary experience travelling across the altiplano. Okay it's a 10 hour trip but the scenery is exceptional. We had a wonderful meal in the train. Well prepared and very well presented. The viewing car is an absolute joy. This, to me, was one of the highlights of a tour of South America. Highly recommended

Travelling by train is always a great way to see places, and the Andean Explorer is no exception. The train is beautiful, the food above average, and the service discreet and professional. Highly enjoyable. The only negative was a disorganised disembark in Puno, where we were made to stay in the carriage for over twenty minutes whilst they unloaded the... More

We went on the Andean Explorer train from Puno to Cuzco and stepped back in time. The train was luxurious, the service was impeccable (thank you for looking after us Wilbert), the scenery could not be matched and the food was amazing too. There was also entertainment laid on twice during the 10 hour journey in the panoramic car which... More

Two Americans traveling from Puno to Cusco. Booked PeruRail's Andean Explorer. Charming/Comfortable environment, great food, excellent service and other offerings (e.g., mixology class, two musical/dance performances, fashion show) to keep passengers busy. All of this occurs amongst the beautiful scenery of Peru's Altiplano and the Andean mountains. Mr. Analdo and his staff are to be commended. Consider this cost-effective alternative... More

We took the Andean Explorer from Puno to Cusco and it was fantastic. Lunch and afternoon tea are included; both were delicious. One starter option (smoked trout) and 2 main courses (one meat, one veggie) - I had the quinoa risotto which was fabulous. Wine is included. All the water you can drink (still or sparkling) is provided along the... More

The Andean Explorer from Puno to Cusco (or vice versa) is every bit as good as the Orient Express (we travelled from London to Venice on the OE last year so I can compare) - as well as being a fraction of the price! It's a luxury experience from start to finish, from the beautifully crafted Pullman carriages to the... More

When was the last time you heard Chuck Berry tunes performed by a Peruvian band somewhere in the Andes Mountains? If it's been awhile, you owe it to yourself to book the PeruRail Andean Explorer train and travel from Cusco to Puno (There is also a return trip which I assume is similar). On a luxurious train you'll travel over... More
