Always crowded but great fun to mingle and take in the sights and history of the area. But if you're there during the week before the Festival of the Sun (June 24), you'll see all the floats for the parade and impromptu performances of groups...More

Lovely square set in the centre of old Cuzco. Plenty of lovely restaurants around the edge and lovely views up to the rim of mountains that surround Cuzco.

June is festival month in Cusco. Everyday the square had something different going on, from Military marching to cultural dance groups to children dance groups. So much fun! And the 2 cathedrals are beyond beautiful. Now I know where all the Inca gold and silver...More

We were there in late June, and there was a series of parades and events in the main town square. The parade we saw most of was a local affair, not for tourists. It showed tremendous interest, participation, and enthusiam by locals. The parades blocked...More

Loved this area but if you want a more peaceful time please avoid June as it is carnival time and extremely busy with parades every day. Plenty of shops and restaurants but expect to be pestered a lot by street sellers. We got to the...More

Historic center of Cuzco is full of colours and a cozy town with narrow streets, built with Inca stones. In every street you may find little shops or houses with beautiful colours. However as it is the closest airport to Macchu Pichu, it is full...More

We stayed a total of 4 days in Cusco and we were never very far away from the center. A few beautiful churches, inca construction, colonial architecture, nice restaurants and shopping and even travel companies all located around this area. Also used as a staging...More

Great history backs the constructions of those beautiful cathedrals. You can get a tour ticket to visit all of them for a better price.

Cusco is a beautiful city with lots to see and do. If you are interested in Inka history it is a must. If you like people watching then sitting on a restaurant balcony in the Plaza des Armes is a great place to do it.

Hello all, we are going to Peru in June. Any tips for our trip to Cusco would be appreciated. How much time should I allow for Cusco? How about Machu Picchu? What time did you leave and how much time did you spend there? I assume you came back the same day to Cusco? Sorry for all the questions but I have never done anything like this before and I am a little clueless. Thanks, Barry

Hi! We landed in Cusco and immediately left to go to the Sacred Valley. This helps to acclimate to the high altitude. We were there for two days and then went to Macchu Picchu for two days. We then returned to Cusco for... More
