The famous painting of the last supper with cuy (Guinea pig) is in the cathedral, along with a host of other paintings from the Cusco school (style of painting). Fascinating, even if you aren't an art buff.

It was worth the look, there are english speaking attendants if needed. Steep stairs to the higher level so be careful, they are very old. Great view of the Town Square from the top. Enjoy

We visited the cathedral on a Sunday. The cathedral was packed with worshippers. It was fascinating to see the devotion that was on display in the cathedral. A very spiritual experience.

No need to book in advance. You should be able to get in during the day unless there is a reason that the church is closed.
