No additional vaccines are needed for the Cusco region. If you enter the Amazon in the northern portion of Peru you may need a Yellow Fever vaccine. Of course, you should get your Covid vaccine. Peru has the highest mortality rate from Covid of any country.

I went at the end of July. The temperature on night 1 was 20 degrees F and on night 2 it was 35 degrees F. We were very comfortable in the Sky Camp domes and the Andean huts. We purchased the sleeping bags. They also provided liners and an additional blanket so that we were warm at night. We were both very comfortable and did not feel cold except when we ran to the bathroom in the middle of the night, lol.

We went in July. No rain for us. I suggest going when it is the lowest chance of rain in June and July.

On the 3 day you don't get to go to the Humantay Lake which is a must!!! The only difference between the 4D and 5D is they split the last day (17 miles) into 10 miles + 7 miles. Those last 2 days are flat walking no hiking, so 17 miles is totally do-able even for those who were inexperienced at hiking.
