I volunteered at Pilpintuwasi for a month and I absolutely loved it! Gudrun (the starter/ owner of Pilpintuwasi) is a very compassionate and hard-working woman who knows everything about all of the animals at Pilpintuwasi. She is a wonderful and loving person to work with....More

Our tour guide was so helpful and had really cool info about all the animals there. I learned about the short life span of butterflies and how often other animals eat them often as caterpillars.

It had been 4 years since the last time I visited the Butterfly Farm and It has improved greatly! They now have wire tunnels for the guests to walk through so that most of the animals can roam free at the site. Butterflies, jaguar, tapir,...More

A great place to see how a person can devote their life to something they love. The butterflies were beautiful. The back story was remarkable.

It is meaningful to be able to learn about the local animals, people and butterflies. It is delightful indeed to take children. It is a rescue operation but also an education. The guide was bilingual, interesting and knowledgeable.

Go to the real Pilpintuwasi farm, don’t get scammed and ask for the real one, the woman meeting you should be an Austrian lady, who has dedicated her life in rescuing and protecting different types of butterflies and animals.

You nicht be able if you start very early. The waterlevel is very low and you cannot get directly by boat to monkey island nor Pilpintuwasi. You'd have to take a speedboat to monkey island.
