This is a very large square, the center of old Lima with is framed by imposing palaces, including the president palace. Some of the building are colored in bright yellow and have old wooden balconies. A walk around, especially at the time of the changing...More

It was a chance happening to be in the right place at the right time. There was a fairly large band and two uniformed men doing a formal ceremony with sabers. Be sure to take this as it's pretty special.

We loved the architecture of this place! This and Plaza San martin were great and definitely the most beautiful places in Lima. We loved the baroque colonial style of the historic buildings and also the neo baroque of the newer.

The main square in the historic center of Lima. I enjoyed it, but you cant really get to close or have access to any of the main buildings as a tourist. The Square in an of itself is pretty wide open and unremarkable as compared...More

A rectangular square with fountain. In my vision better to be visited at night. Generally boring. The only twist are the wooden verandas of the old buildings around.

Big city plaza. Kinda weird with the water cannon, armored vehicle traveling around the plaza and the display of riot gear police scattered about the plaza. Says quite A bit about the attitude of the President of Peru toward his countrymen.

Beautiful buildings and architecture surround this Plaza Major which IS the major Plaza in Lima. Unfortunately, Quite crowded with tourists and locals. Great for picture taking with the interesting buildings and fountain. You always see police everywhere as pickpocketing is quite huge in Lima so...More

If you go to the city center you must stop by the plaza de Armas and watch the changing of the guards. Beutiful display of the uniform colors and the precision in which the soldier conduct the ceremony

A variety of sights, sounds, dance with as many diverse visitors as there are displays of true and unique craftsmanship. Surrounding architecture and eateries punctuate the parque and one can actually appreciate the attraction to Miraflores. One unique, (odd?) note to add is that the...More

As far as I know, it does at noon. However, do check with your hotel in advance, just in case. BTW, just got this enquiry despite your posting it 2 weeks ago. Hope you enjoy your trip to Lima
