The best part of walking the street was visiting Iglesia de la Merced. Otherwise it was very unforgettable. Links play de Armas with Plaza San Martin

A pedestrian street linking Plaza de Armas with Plaza San Martin. The street has fast food, restaurants, and stores/shops of all kinds. Even Iglesia La Merced is on the street. Union is much nicer near Plaza/Armas but gets sleazier/ more dodgy near Plaza/San Martin and the Gran Bolivar Hotel.

An amazing place to visit while visiting the nearby monasteries in the area. This square offers wonderful history and beautiful buildings to marvel at dating back some 400 years. Also many shops and restaurants line the many streets nearby.

You can see that this was once the major shopping street of Lima, nice buildings that are in doubtful state today, but hopefully some day will be restored. Shops are nothng special, mbut it's a nice stroll without traffic to walk from one tomthe otehr major plazas

Myself and two friends walked this street from Plaza San Martin to Plaza de Armas at night time. We walked it at approximately 10PM and were surprised that there were still quite a few people out and about. Even though a majority of the shops were closing, we were entertained by a Michael Jackson tribute street performer, a gifted spray... More

Lots of good shopping here and some decent deals. The stores all made sure that the employee that spoke the best English helped us, and while the amount of English varied from place to place, everyone was very accomadating. It was also nice that it's in a pedestrian area so you don't have to keep jumping out of the way... More
