An astonishing collection and display of the many cultures and eras of pre Colombian Peruvian art. Mostly ceramics of course, but also superb ancient textiles and painting as well. There are galleries for contemporary works too, but mostly the focus is on ancient and colonial art, the main collection ending in the early 20th century. And both the old and new pieces, both sacred and profane, astonished me in their creativity and execution. If you like art or history, you'd better give yourself some time for this experience.…

The MALI museum is not as dazzling as the Museo Larco, but nevertheless warrants an excellent rating. The galleries are arranged chronologically, starting with extensive displays from the pre-Columbian and Colonial eras, continuing into the Republican Period and then with a limited display of contemporary Peruvian art. Every piece is labeled in English with well-written commentaries that assist greatly with understanding its significance. Admission was only 15 soles (about $4.50). The staff was very helpful in calling us a taxi for our return to the hotel. The MALI museum compliments Museo Larco; try to see both.…

Review of: Skip the Line - Admission Ticket
Whilst this museum is not quite as popular as the Gold Museum and Larco, the visit is a must, because in addition to getting splendid examples of pre Inca and Inca treasures, and colonial at, it also has an impressive collection of modern Peruvian painting, dating from mid 19th century onwards. The museum also plays an important educational role, especially for children.…

I could spend all day looking at the wonderful collections --- the pre-columbian collection is just amazing --- absolutely amazing. The rapid shift in style following the Spanish Conquest and the rise of the vice royalty is really interesting, too. This is a very nice museum with a wonderful collection of pre-Columbian and post conquest art -- not to be missed. …

The museum is very close to parque de la reserva, situated in the park. The permanent collection is very nice.
