“Different to Huaca Pucllana.”

They used adobe mud brick, but it is an entirely different style of brick laying to the pyramid at Huaca Pucllana. There is a small museum, all signs at the site are in Spanish and English. There is free Wi-Fi so you can download the smart guide app and use it at this site. This site is unguided, so you can walk around at your leisure. No crowds, we were the only two visitors at about 3.00 p.m. Cheap price at 5 PEN for adults and 2.50 PEN for seniors. You only need about 30 minutes to tour the site. They have clean free toilets.

This old ground offers a museum in addition to the monument that gives details at to the Incan history of the place and the reasons for its creation. For 5 Soles you can enter and the staff are very friendly and will help with a small tour and answer any questions that you may have. The museum showcases a real mummy from the Incan period in which it has been carefully preserved and put on show. There is also a real human skull with perfectly preserved human hair attached.

Pre-Inca ruins in the middle of Lima

Interesting. Nice museum with artifacts and mummies, you can take photos just make sure the flash is off. I met an interesting Peruvian hairless dog guarding the ruins, he was very friendly.

Interesting Pre-Columbian Adobe Step Pyramid in the middle of the City of Lima

It's amazing that this structure survives to this day in a metropolis like Lima. The adobe mud brick pyramid dates back to about 200 BC when it served as a temple. Later it was abandoned as a temple and then used as a burial ground. Some burials were elaborate with the bodies wrapped in woven cloth and buried with textiles, ceramic pots, tools, musical instruments, food and other valuable items; some mummified bodies have been recovered at the site. During the Inca period, the pyramid was used as a place for habitation. Parts of the pyramid have been restored and perhaps that is unfortunate because it kind of has loss its authenticity but it was done in the name of preservation. There are portions of the pyramid that have not been restored and that appears much more interesting. There are excavations at the site where important artifacts have been recovered. The Huaca Huallamarca pyramid is surrounded by residences and some tall buildings in the affluent San Isidro municipality of Lima. There are ramps to provide access to the top of the pyramid.
The views of the city from the top of the pyramid are very nice. There is also a small museum with some of the artifacts displayed. Only 5 soles to visit the site.

Old historic place inside town

When in Lima, do not miss the very old historic ruins inside San Isidro district! This is really old, where old inca civilization built a place where they used to store food and later for burials! This a must to go, you can do walking in case your hotel is in San Isidro region . Get a good pair of tennis or light shoes and enjoy it !

Pre- Incan pyramid

I treasure in San Isidro. Manageable site with a small good museum. We were able to climb the pyramid. A great way to see ancient ruins in the middle of the city!

A great sense of history

amazing to see this in the centre of Lima - a great sense of history and shows you so much of what Peru was like - it easy to overdose on ruins, museums and churches but the reality is that Peru has so much to offer. Thisd was one of my favourites

Complete Huaca in the heart of San Isidro

Really interesting pre-Incan Huaca dating back to 200 AD in the heart of San Isidro. There is a small museum that is fairly interesting. Panels are in Spanish and English. You can climb to the top and also look half way up at excavations. Costs about $1.50 for adults and children 5 and older about 30 cents Well worth it

You don't see too many complete Huacas, so take a bit of time and visit this one

You can look at as many archeological sites as you like, but this one is pretty complete. In reality, this gives you a much better idea about the size and purpose of this Lima people’s temple and, subsequently, burial place for both them and the Incas who followed many centuries later. For £1.25/head you get helpful advice at the ticket office, entry to a small museum and access up the ramp to the adobe edifice. Very different to the size and library-style construction of Huaca Pucllana, so complimentary to that site.

Worth a visit

Interesting tour round some pre incan ru8ns in the heart of the city. We walked to it from the south side of kennedy park. Found it easily. Cheap entrance fee and you get a guide who spoke excellent English. We did it on a day that was quite foggy but it was warm so make sure you take sun protection. It's very dusty so don't wear your best clothes and wear shoes you can walk in. Worth the time

The ruins are very interest and easy to access, just a few blocks from Ovalo Miraflores. And there is an amazing restaurant attached to the ruins, once of my favorite dinner places.
