We spent the afternoon at Pantanos de Villa yesterday and it was such a pleasant surprise! Who knew such a natural, quiet world existed in Lima? Visitors can walk or take a rowboat through the wetlands and there is a lovely beach at one end of the park. A must for birders visiting Lima!

Pantanos de Villa is a wetlands hidden within Lima's city limits. It's a great place for local and out-of-town visitors to observe over 208 different species of birds in one setting. These birds are a mix of migratory birds from both the Northern and Southern hemispheres, species that migrate from the Andes, and local residents. Some of the birds you... More

Bidrwatchers' paradise. Litter free, pretty well-taken care of. Nice and quite boat trip to observe some of the 208 bird species, 11 species of fish and 54 species of arthropods. It's the only protected area close to the capital city. The entrance is cheap: children S/.4 ( a little more than $1 and adults S/8 ($2.50 aprox).

A trip to Pantanos de Villa is well worth the short trip. Whether you live in Lima, are visiting the city for a short time or have been traveling around South America for months Pantanos de Villa offers you something truly different. This marshland area is the only Conservation Area within the Lima city limits and is a key refuge... More

This is a marsh wetlands environment in Lima. Lots of birds and great reflective place to enjoy nature and do some birdwatching. Bathrooms are portalets but available. This is a migration stopover so different birds are seen depending on the location. Friendly and knowledgeable guide but only in Spanish

A lovely place to visit. It's hard to believe a place like this exists in Lima. A huge wetlands area, with boat trips and scenic walks. Tours are given in Spanish. Lots of birds - great for bird watchers!

This is a lovely urban reserve set on the outskirts of Lima. It costs approximately 20 sols to get there from Miraflores and entry is 8 sols for adults. It was very hot the day I visited and there was little shelter so wear plenty of sun protection and try and get there early! Saw a good variety of species... More

This is a nice outing for families looking for a little green get away near Lima. The cost is 8 soles for an adult and 4 soles for a child. The area consists of a few trails that wind around lagoons and some viewing platforms. There is another trail near the beach- we did not take this one. If you... More

We just had a couple of hours at the reserve and thoroughly enjoyed the time. We saw 22 species in the short time at both the beach lagoon as well as the lake in the middle of the reed beds. It took an hour and a half to travel there from our cruise ship, but was an excellent break to... More
