Absolutely breathtaking - nothing more about the views can be said! We feel truly honoured to have had the opportunity of visiting this amazing world heritage site. However, I must admit we were both very surprised at the amount of climbing of steep steps involved, the pretty narrow paths you need to use which do not have handrails and yet... More

Macchu Pichu, an old Inca fortress, is a must-see for any traveller! One can hike the Inca trail there from a not too distant centre (in a largish group of fit people, with at least one guide is recommended) or the train can be taken from Cuzco. if you choose the latter, be prepared to queue from the wee small... It is an incredible place but be prepared to have to wait for everything. I'm so glad I walked the Inca Trail for 5 days to get there. We got 4 significant ruins virtually to ourselves and walked in solitude to get so I got my mind to imagine the past.

Machu Picchu is really one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. The plan was to take the first bus, but since it was very cloudy we decided to leave a little bit later (but before the first train from Cuzco) arrives. In the end we had a sunny morning in Machu Picchu and it wasn't crowded at... More

This rare jewel of the Inca empire is fascinating and majestic. No one really knows its purpose but it is the centerpiece of the Inca civilization.

Fantastic place. A few tips: Read up on the history before you go as there are many version to how and why this site was established and debate over the pre inca history. Insect repellent is a must. Wear good walking shoes especially if you intend to walk beyond the main site.

What a huge disappointment we suffered traveling to Peru to visit Machu Picchu. Imagine our dismay when on Friday November 11 ( at 5 pm) we received an email telling us our train will not be running. We spent months planning the hotels, airfare to Lima then airfare to Cuzco , train travel, bus and cab travel. At 5 pm... More

First of all I have never had such difficulty with getting tickets for anything. The website that ends GOB.PE is the official website but as it's flash website you may find public computers and phones just won't load it. There is a mobile option that wouldn't load as well. Also, the website works best in Spanish (get the dictionary out... More

Really enjoyed visiting Machu Picchu and its setting, even though very tired after the 4day inca trek. View from the Sun Gate of Machu Picchu appearing slowly through the mist, rising sun was great. There are lots of steps and paths to climb to see the site in its entirety, though it is still accessible to most people. Huayna Picchu... More
