- eckhoasannemSnowmass Village, Colorado31 contributionsGreat MuseumOur family of 5 with 2 adults and 3 children ages 12, 15, and 17 toured this museum this week and it was wonderful. It was detailed enough to learn about the pre-Incan cultures, and not too detailed to lose the attention of our children. We took an hour as we were on a schedule but probably 1.5 hours would have been even better. We were with a knowledgeable guide, which was helpful. The artistry of the displays was impressive. The descriptions are in Spanish and English. This is worth your time and money and we recommend going.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten March 18, 2024

Getting to know each culture, in a conditioned environment and with such beautiful scenery, generates interest in continuing to investigate our history.
The museum is located in a trace, easy to get to with your own mobility or with local mobility.
Admission has a cost, it is important to find out before arriving.
Then they can continue visiting the surrounding places.

Our hosts from the Kamma Guest House had to run some errands and asked us if we wanted to go along with them. We never would have known about the Inkariy Museum if it were not for them. They dropped us off while they attended to their business. The museum is located on a main road between Pisac and Urubamba. There are several buildings on the property that display several pre-Incan artifacts and explain in detail about each culture; the Caral, Paracas, Wari to name a few. You can also do a guided tour if you choose. It takes about an hour and a half to two hours to see the museum. I highly recommend this museum....you will not be disappointed!

This museum represents all the cultures this amazing contry had, showing some of their activities, gods, pottery and representations. Each culture has a dedicated room where all of these things are showed and explained, the museum explains the most important things of each culture but if you want to know another few things about them you should visit the museums that are centered only in one culture. Apart from the information, the personal is friendly, the bathrooms are clean, the instalations are safe, the museum has a garage and the rooms are well organized. I personally liked this museum.

This museum is a hidden gem in Valle Ssagrado. It's a small but fascinating museum dedicated to showcasing the rich history and culture of the different Peruvian civilizations. With a diverse collection of artifacts, textiles, and exhibits, it provides valuable insights into ancient life and traditions. A visit to this museum offers a deeper understanding of Peru's incredible heritage.

This museum is a must-see. Our family was very well received and we felt cared for. This personal touch can be felt in the way the entire exhibition was created. Very clear, informative and with life-size models that take us back to the time of those ancestors. Thanks.

This is a new museum located just north of the small town of Urco in the Sacred Valley and covers 8 different Peruvian cultures from the Caral to the Inka. We have made several visits with our guests and everyone has fully enjoyed their visits. They are still working on some of the rooms and exhibits, but it is well worth the stop to visit. They have 8 rooms, one for each culture and the individual rooms are divided into two separate rooms, the first room has reproductions of artifacts and information, and the second room is like a wax museum with a life-size diorama of one aspect of the life of that culture. And did I mention your entry includes a guided tour.

We had used a driver to have a personal tour around some of the most famous sites in Urubamba and he recommended stopping here on our way back. It doesn't look like much from the outside but inside it's quite fabulous! There are many different rooms to walk through that tell the amazing history of the people of the area. They also have tableaus setup that are quite lifelike. There's a lot of reading to do on the walls that it's in Spanish and English. We almost had the place to ourselves and then toward the very end a large tour group came in so it was really wonderful that we had a quiet time with all of these museum rooms to ourselves. It is very inexpensive to enter and I highly recommend it if you are passing by.

Are the artifacts reproductions?

The Museum is a combination between dioramas and some pieces. The main attraction are the first, but, anyhow they have in exhibition some originals. It is not the kind of museums where you find a lot of pieces. The design is clear and not overdone.
In my opinion is a very different museum that deserves to be seen (if you like a new category: Archaeologic Wax Museums).

Is it possible to catch a taxi or combi headed to Urubamba at Inkariy? Perhaps even standing at the road and flagging one down?
Written April 2, 2016
it depends from where you are coming. I take a guide and he came with a car.
