This museum is dedicated to the "culture" of the culture of pearls in the Tahitian way. You will feel more confident choosing your pearl after a visit here.

Free to get in and gives a great little explanation and displays of the pearls history. Also has some beautiful pieces for sale. Definitely worth the hour + to go thru and read the info, which is all in several languages.

Robert Wan has done a superb job showing the history of cultured Tahitian black pearls in this museum. You will see a wide variety of colors, shapes and sizes that you will not ordinarily see. The only drawback are the mannequins that look quite dated....More

Just looked it up....Gauguin's Pearl farm....got an education on pearls, too....there is very, very little 'natural' pearls left...most are cultured...but as I said, they can still be quite beautiful, even if you don't need... More
