The Skanderbeg The Skanderbeg Square is the main plaza in the centre of Tirana, Albania. The square is named after the Albanian national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu. The total area is about 40.000 square metres. The Skanderbeg Monument dominates the square.

On a day with temperatures reaching 45degrees the square distracts from this, there is so much to look at. Well looked after and a perfect tourist spot. The statue, the mosaic wall, the water fountains from the ground with the kids running around. A really...More

What an improvement since last there 12 months ago. The grass and much of the surrounding road is gone replaced by marble and water though Skanderbeg's statue seems less important with its new surrounding.

This square was huge! There was water running over the surface to keep it cool in hot weather. The statues were interesting

After remodelling and removal of traffic this is a really nice place. Majestic but very human. Most large squares in cities are horrible dirty places surrounded by cars - but this is an exception!

Large square with cooling fountains for children to run in. Surrounded by modern buildings . Nothing of great age. Popular for free music in evenings

Different point of view of architecture. Spacious. Funny. Youth people around. Speak English, you will never face troubles.

A safe haven for pedestrians. Some of the main buildings in Tirana are located at the square. Interesting history of buildings, new designs and statues of Stalin and Hoxha. Nowadays, the statue of the 15th century Albanian national hero Skanderbeg dominates the square.

Parts of the square are under renovation so fenced off. You have to go to see the mosque and the museum but we couldn't find anywhere to sit, so just walk through and take in the atmosphere from somewhere else.

When we were going to Tirana, there was not so much to experience, but this place was recommended. In our opinion there was not much to see or experience here. This is a big square with is built in memory of the national hero Skanderbeg.
