It is a place of worship for each Bularian, as it comemorates the National Bulgarian 19th century Hero Vasil Levski, if you visit the nearby Botanical garden or Quadrat 500 - national fine arts gallery you could have a drop to that monument too

The location is perfect, it is laying on a place next to technical university of sofia. But the monument is nothing extreme, just an average pole.

This monument marks the place where Levski died. Do not expect any grand statues or anything of the sort since it wouldn't be really appropriate for the place. On this spot Levski was executed by the Ottomans in 1873. It was not selected because it's...More

For one such national hero, as is Vasil Levski to Bulgarians, I really expected more. Monument has nice location, but everything else is rather average. Not fit to a man who is so beloved by many and seen as a true national hero.

Vasil Levski (18 July 1837–19 February 1873) is most reputable and loved national hero of Bulgaria. He is a great Bulgarian revolutionary executed (hung) by the Turks in 1973, in the outskirts (nowadays this is central zone) of Sofia, where now is located the Vasil...More

This monument is located on the south east of the city center. It is walking distance to other attractions such as the Monument of Tsar II and the Sveti Sedmochislenitsi Church.

The greatest hero in Bulgaria. It doesn't have to be beautiful. The country respect the hero, so, as many capitals and is roundways, this onde is a mark of history. Nothing more. And has a lot of traffic. Near Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.

If you really like monuments, maybe you you'll love also this one, but for me is not worth to go there.

The monument itself is made in the common socialist monument style. Which means - nothing special. It's made in memory of Vasil Levski, national hero, so I have always thought it would be better if the monument represented all of him. Instead there us just...More

A lovely long walk through the square and gardens brings you to the Aleksander Nevski Cathedral, a little further on is the Vasil Leviski Monument. It may look a little 'out of place' but this monument is a symbol of the trials and times that...More
