This was a very nice church to step into and look around, but what we found best was it's underground necropolis. We had to pay an entrance fee, but it was worth it. There were a couple of videos explaining the history, and lots to...More

Beautiful church in Sofia. From the outside it doesn't look special at all but the inside is definitely worth a visit. You'll be surprised!

From the outside this looks like a very plain church that you probably wouldn't bother entering. It looks very modern, but Don't be deceived - even the exterior bricks are old. The interior is a usual Orthodox arrangement, but that is mot why you should...More

Visited this church on out walking tour. It's nothing amazing to look at but have a very interesting history. We couldn't get inside as it was shut when we went back later.

Do not forget to visit the crypt. The ladies at the ticket office, downstairs in the church, are very helpful and will be happy to answer all your questions. Very well done, with many interesting levels to explore. A must see.

The very fact that the city itself was named after exaclty this church, in my opinion, is a good reason to pay a visit. Tip 1: the church does not have a bell tower, but pay attention to the bell on a tree across the...More

Just across the road from the Cathedral so I guess you could miss it. Very pretty on outside and inside - ‘bricks’ instead of usual stone make it unusual in Sofia. There is a small fee to see the crypt. Well worth it for some...More

The church itself is fairly plain and unadorned but that holds a charm of its own. The best thing though are the crypts/necropolis. It was only a few lev to go in and see all the old burial chambers they unearthed dating back to the...More

I would agree with what's posted above and add a few points. Find the central Mosque, it's close to the 'Largo' with all it's wonderful Roman ruins on display. Wander down Pirotska St, you'll pass the old indoor market and... More
