I past through the square on the way to another attraction. I was inclined to stop and browse and check out the goods. Outside markets in Europe are common and always prove to have interesting local finds. This was no different so I puttered around. It was worth a few minutes. Two points of interest are the statue of Petka and Pancho Slaveikov father and son Bulgarian writers which the square is named for and the fountain.

Perfect for windows shopping and people’s bazaar: lots of iddle folks hanging around and some tchotchke stands, even a bookstore. I’m surprised to find a Delicatessen selling Vintage Bordeaux, Macallan (Euro 189 for the basic version) and some fine Italian cold cuts. They also have great espresso with ouside sitting.

Great place for walks and talks with friends. Definitely boutique square. The monument of father and son Slaveikov is gorgeous. Miss the book market there. Love that place.

Right in the center of Sofia, we have this place - Slaveykov square. The most remarkable thing there is the bench (on the picture) with 2 Slaveikov brothers - Petko and Pencho that are famous Bulgarian poets. On the many shops on the square, many books are sold, most of them Bulgarian, but I've seen there some English, Russian and German books as well.

There's McDonalds right next to public library down the square, however that's about it - it would take no more than 5 minutes to circle it around and see it all for yourself. Still a nice point of interest worth taking a photo, good to explore on your way for other interesting places in the area like Alexander Nevsky church, or one of the many museums in the centre of Sofia.

Last but not least, there's a special museum dedicated to Petko and Pencho Slaveikov nearby - named "Petko and Pencho Slaveykov" on the crossing of "Neofit Rilski" str and "Rakovski" str.

A part of the city that ised to be quite shabby for decades has finally got a modern look and the books flea market was removed. Much pleasant for walks.

It's a lovely restful space along the fine ul. Graf Ignatiev. Trees and seating enhance the atmosphere. It is a pedestrian area, except for a couple of trams trundling nearby.

Named to honour a famous father and son, Petko an educationalist and activist and his son Pencho, a modernist poet. A grand sculpture of both seated is a reminder of the provenance.

Library of Sofia is housed in an impressive building. It is worth a look within to say the multitude of tomes.

This small square is a treasury of books. The whole square is filled with vendors for books. Very interesting place.

This would probably be quite a nice place if it weren't for all the mess from the construction. There's not much of an area open now with the trams passing through the middle and a narrow pedestrian walkway on the side. Not worth going out of your way to visit at the moment.

Lovely place for years. Open air books market. Old books available too. You can buy for one euro or less nice books.
Most of the market is moved to the small park a front hotel Rila.

At Slaveikov Square you can find the largest vintage book market in Sofia! There is also a library, a medical center and plenty of shops around. Newly built fountain look cute too.
