Wandering through the most commercial streets in the lower part of the city, it will not be unlikely to come across this monument which portrays a man sitting in a thoughtful attitude. It is a statue that portrays and celebrates the figure of Nikola Tesla, a famous Yugoslavian engineer and inventor who worked in the field of electricity. The monument itself is nothing special.

A cool statue of this country man located in lower town. The most apparent thing, is the shinny shoe he has from people touching it so much!

it is really a shame that Nikola Tesla is not much more famous in the World. Much more people knows about Edison, Marcony or some others (I didn't say that they are not important at all!!)... but they don't even know about Nikola Tesla, man with more than 1000 great inventions. Electricity as we know it is actualy the basic thing in our lives and Tesla is the one who made it for us! The statue in the center of Zagreb is really one of the smallest things that we (human) can do for such a great inventer as Nikola Tesla was!

At the corner of Masarykova and Preradovićeva Streets you'll find a large statue of Nikola Tesla. Moved to it's current site in 2006 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of his birth, it now sits at an intersection in the centre of the city. It's central location makes this an excellent meeting spot. The statue itself is a fine monument; but apart from the enormous sculpt of Tesla sitting, pondering, there's nothing else to it. Although I have a great deal of respect for Tesla, I can't call myself a "fan", therefor this statue didn't have any significance for me. But still a nice statue, it adds a bit more character to the city.

Another masterpiece by the famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović, located just next to the street that is also named after the great scientist. The statue was previously installed in front of the Institute Ruđer Bošković, but was transferred here in 2006.
