It is a symbolic edifice of the Romanian culture, built in the heart of Bucharest 120 years ago. It is the home of the "George Enescu" International Festival. It is a place where great Romanian personalities and scientists have lectured, professional musicians have given concerts,...More

We managed to catch the symphony here. Great night. At about $US17 for great seats it’s excellent value. The theater feels intimate as it’s not massive when you get into the auditorium. A must do if you can fit it in. Book on line. Get...More

This opera house rivals any in the western world in its beauty and magnificence. The grandeur of the place will inspire all who visit, and you will want to attend a musical event to hear the acoustics. Not to be missed when you visit Romania.

We saw the Athenaeum first during the day and realised a concert was on that evening. Although sold out we queued at the side door for returns and got in with great seats. We watched a fantastic concert in a beautiful building. Don't miss out.

A concert there is a must. The concert hall itself is relatively small, extremely well taken care of, beautifully decorated, and the acoustics outstanding.
