Lovely views of the city, though a shame there was no entry to the church. I don't think it is a working church but a national monument - so the entrance fee (very reasonable) was going to its general upkeep.

Nice place, a lot of artists, many things to see and to buy. Recommended to visit being in Kyiv on the way to Maydan.
It's one of the must visit places in Kiev. Not sure it gives you an authentic feel of the city but if you came to Kiev, I guess it's customary to visit.
