Let me start with a correction: the name of this museum has been changed to National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War as of July 2015 To be honest, I was reluctant to go to this museum as I'm not interested at all in war, weapons, patriotic stuff, however, I am very happy that I... I hate war and any kind of weapon so I wasn't happy with idea to visit this museum. But thanks to our excellent guide Dmitriy it was great experience. Specially emotional is the last room which is dedicated to war victims.

Interesting and close to motherland - nice walk during the day, however would be best in summer time where you could be out for half a day!!

Clearly the place where Kiev families like to visit. Lots of great military equipment but also a very haunting museum of WW2 items, some very distressingV

Huge place with amazing view and a lot to see near Mother Motherland statue. If you like war themed places and you are in Kiev it is a must see.

This is a fascinating museum...from what I could tell from the outside. The "inside" museum was closed when I arrived, even though I came there during advertised "Open" hours. Nevertheless, the outside grounds are open to the public and provide for some excellent photo ops and rich military history, even up to and including the current conflict with Russia. Rodina... I'd still recommend seeing this but with tempered expectations. There are a ton of artifacts from Ukraine's history, notably WWII which is very interesting to see. Also there is an audio guide in English but its more of a general narrative when you walk into each hall; but you can't type in a code that matches a specific artifact and... More

Definitely worth the trip if you like war history especially from the WWII Era. It's a big landmark with 3 museums inside. It also has a great outdoor vintage WWII weaponry exhibition. You definitely get to see and experience WWII and other world conflicts from the opposing side of the United States and its Allies. I was intrigued by their... More

Under the Motherland statue is the entrance to this marvelous museum to the history of the Ukraine during WW2. The entrance looks closed don't be put off it's just because you can't see any one until the sliding doors open. You have to leave your coat and bags in a cloak room run by the 2 most miserable ladies from... More

The National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War is a memorial complex commemorating the German-Soviet War. It is worth to visit it with its 62-meter tall Motherland statue. Tickets are very cheap= 20 uah adult including leaving clothes for free and bathroom facilities. There is also cheap kafe inside when you can relax a little.
