Not that this is the main reason, but all of the plaques and quotes were in Russian. However this was worth the visit none the less =D A small fee for the visit, and display. The ex-Soviet had so much control over the Ukraine. Good luck to them for gaining independence, they still live in the Soviet shadow, and may... More

Open air museum in a pleasant environment. To have close look at the war equipment (cars, tanks and planes) you have to pay a small fee.

If you like war stuff this place has plenty. Many military vehicles from the past scattered around the location. Inside has vast artifacts and lots of history to take in. For a few dollars you can go inside the Motherland monument for a great view of Kiev. Recommended.

Perhaps one of the most stunning museums in Kyiv, it displays the story of WWII. Unlike many historical exhibits in Ukraine, I found that this showed a much more detailed narrative of the war. One downside however, was that there were no english plaques/descriptions when I went - however, worth the trip none-the-less!

We stopped here in between connecting flights and would have had no clue if not for our cabbie Denys. He took us from Boryspil airport, to Kiev, around the city, the cathedral, and this museum just before our next flight. We got to the museum late so we just walked around outside and saw all the tanks, bombs, plane, chopper,... More

Was not easy to find, well to us it wasnt but was very interesting when we did arrive. The Museum covers a large area, outside you have the Armour and aircraft and then there is the museum, the displays covered the war and the struggles, but it also includes the current troubles in Ukraine, I found this very somber indeed. As you go go around the museum there is a part of the display upstairs that is under... More

This is in the same park as the cave monastery. A long walk from one end to the other but the World War II Museum (Great Patriotic) is important because the Russians built it and it reflects their point of view: They won the war almost single handedly. With a little help... GO!
